What is a Paradox?

Here you go.  I like to teach, I like to amuse and further I like to render others incredulous.

Doesn't the above do all three quite facilely?  A paradox you say?   Also good advice?  Confusing, also to those easily rendered confused, so my advice is not to place these around your home if you have friends who smoke if you value your carpet and furniture.

The obedient won't use this ashtray.

The Salt of the Earth Walk Among Us

Are there people you encounter that you know that you'd love to have in your life?  Here's  a guy I'd choose.  His wife is definitely another one I'd choose but she looked more normal.

The baby too, for that matter.  If I hadn't cut off his head, you'd see that you can't see his head over his dad's head because he's too short, but he didn't mind.

These have got to be wonderful people to know.  And if you don't know why, I don't think I can explain it to you.

Twitter Is For Winners, Folk, Not Losers

This photo is from one of my favorite contributors on Twitter,  Awkward Family Photos, which is currently running a contest to find the best photo to represent their tweets.  To find them search Twitter for @awkwardfamily in the Twitter vernacular.  You'll love yourself for it.  You might even become a Twaddict like myself.  Yum buckets.  Can you believe they didn't notice the roofer until it was too late?  Bless those creative wedding photographers.

The Good Life

See those tootsies?  They belong to little James Bennion Cannon.  Notice how the toes are kinda spread out?  That must mean that something exciting is happening.  Or at least something a little unsettling.  Regardless, It's a mighty cute picture.  That's James Bennion's mother, Lee-Ann, with him.  His father, Craig Cannon is somewhere else, but no one seems especially concerned about that.

Dream Photo Nearly Taken

Great picture, don't you think? If you think you could do better, try it driving at 50 mph at night down a residential street, two granddaughters in the backseat, with your IPhone. By the time Carl got there with his big-deal camera, the moon was behind the clouds. So what would you prefer? Nothing or this little beauty?

Tributing July

The only thing not to like about July is that we are now on the slippery slope down to harvest. Probably one of the most unhappy days for me is June 20 because that's when days start again to shorten.

Spring has its charm, Fall is beautiful and Winter kills the bugs. But full-on Summer is splendid. Who could argue that?

Here's Sophia and Ali playing on the Daybreak Beach a day or so ago. Magnificent.

Why Markers Must NOT Be Sold Over The Counter

I know this is an old one but I love it. Particularly I enjoy the scribbling on the eyes.

Me at Maui and Dreams of Dishwashers

Seeking any respite from the clouds and rain, I look to my photo album. Here it is. The room we had overlooking the beach which, of course, overlooked the ocean. I would consider licking the sand if I were there now.

I think the rain even provoked the dream I had last night about an old clunker dishwasher I inherited somehow that had three huge compartments. It was in the shape and style of a big old chest-type freezer. It may not have been pretty, but it would certainly wash everything at once. It was horrifying. It definitely would rank as a nightmare.

Who Are These Beautiful Boys?

Oh, wait! They're my own two sons. Ben, on the left, is now 39 and Brad, right, is 37. This was at my brother, Brent's wedding. "Ya gotta love the pants," to quote Brad.

Into the Unknown

Is this the cutest thing? These are my two little granddaughters, Ali and Sophia Aukschun, walking along a street in Kiev. Perfect little Ruske peasant girls. They're the sweetest ever. (Photo credit goes to Carl Aukschun.)
